dealing with anxiety

As if it's not bad enought to have terminal cancer I have anxiety and depression that I have dealt with in the past come back again.  I can be doing nothing and thinking about nothing and it will just spring up with that feeling of shaky and stomach action.  Really wish I had a Delete button installed to move it all out.

Lulu975 has your doctor prescribed any anti-anxiety medication for you?

I suffer anxiety and have a rare disorder - i've found meditation and calming youtube videos to be a help. Even just to practice breathing while listening to calming music helps. When it's bad though, an anti anxiety medication is a big help. Do you have any on hand?

Hi Lulu975 and Carlyn
As you said it seems like you both have enough! An article called What is anxiety? starts off,  Thinking about progressive changes in your health and functional ability, your own death, or that of someone close can make you anxious. Like most people, you probably try to avoid such thoughts as you go about your daily life. However, this is difficult if not impossible to do when you are faced with a life-threatening illness. Such a diagnosis thrusts you into uncharted territory where much seems unfamiliar and you feel out of control. No wonder you may experience anxiety or feel scared.”

That last sentence got me – ‘no wonder.’  I thought the article might help – and to add to what Carlyn suggested some ideas about talking to your healthcare provider if you need.

It’s hard too I would think being in a new community and away from friends you have known for some time.

Thinking of you Lulu975 – and you too Carlyn.

Katherine

Hi Kathryn,

Thanks very much for the linked article. It's amazing how much I forget. Illness is overwhelming at times (for me) so things I knew how to handle related to it can fly out the window when anxiety rises up.  Resource reminders help  a lot.

Lulu975, how are you doing? Or how are things going? I don't want to press or pry just know i'm thinking of you. Kathryn makes a great point about being in a new community.

I believe it's a holiday weekend this week. I'll be thinking of you both Lulu975 and Kathryn and keeping positive thoughts for all of us. Holiday weekends can be rough sometimes.

Carlyn
