Dr. Joanne Stephen is a clinician-scientist with the BC Cancer Agency. She works locally, nationally, and internationally with clinicians, researchers, community stakeholders and program leaders to increase psychosocial oncology knowledge and access to psychosocial interventions. Her primary research focus has been the development and evaluation of professionally-facilitated online support groups across Canada for the Cancer Journey Action Group (Canadian Partnership Against Cancer). Over the last five years she has been the principal investigator for various clinical research studies including a chemotherapy anxiety reduction study in rural BC and study of young breast cancer survivors. She has informal linkages with young adult cancer survivor and stakeholder groups across Canada, and is a member of several advisory groups and boards.
