Chemotherapy for breast cancer

Hi there, One of my friend is diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer, will she need chemo? If yes, then how effective is chemotherapy for the treatment of breast cancer? Can cancer patient be fully recovered after getting chemo? Are there any side effects of chemotherapy?
